ekgs, emails and energy

re-energizing the international energy agency
paris, france

i was actually waiting in a doctor's office when I got an email that an IEA Communications advisor in my brother's LinkedIn network had posted that she was urgently seeking a graphic designer.

after a few emails and tel co.'s, la|fleur design was awarded the task to support the IEA in it's rebranding.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an intergovernmental organization which acts as energy policy advisor to 28 member countries in their effort to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for their citizens. Founded during the oil crisis of 1973-74, the IEA’s initial role was to co-ordinate measures in times of oil supply emergencies. As energy markets have changed, so has the IEA. Its mandate has broadened to incorporate the “Three E’s” of balanced energy policy making: energy security, economic development and environmental protection.

a new logo reflecting this new positioning, accompanied by logo usage and stationery guidelines is currently being rolled out by the agency. i couldn't resist the above video screen grab of henry kissinger, the original agency founder, kibitzing in front of the new identity, albeit non ci-conforming ;-))
